How to Troubleshoot Ceiling Fan Remote Controls A luxurious feature offered on many modern ceiling fans is the wireless remote control. This feature offers full operation of the fan (and any light attachment) from any location within a reasonable distance. This can be especially useful in bedrooms, home theatres, and any other location it is beneficial to adjust the fan and lights without having to get up and operate a wall switch or pullcord.Unfortunately, remote controls also account for a fair number of problems with ceiling fans. Worse, solutions to these problems are usually not easily accessible. First, here is a list of answers to the most commonly asked questions about ceiling fan remote problems:1. Change the battery 2. Contact the manufacturer 3.

I don't know, what? Try a universal remote Now, in a little more depth, are some common solutions to remote problems.
Adjusting the dip switches: Each fan/remote combination is set to work on a specific frequency, much like tuning in a specifc radio station. Some fans allow you to set this frequency by means of a set of small switches called 'dip switches'. There is one set located inside the remote, and the other set would be position on the fan, with the remote receiver electronics. This would be either on top of the motor, or inside the switch housing or ceiling canopy.
These switches 'tune' the remote and fan (received) to the same 'station' and therefore must be set to the same setting. If a fan is not responding to the remote you can check to make sure that the switches are set to the same setting in both locations, and/or try a different setting. They are also useful if you have two remote fans, you will want to be sure each fan is set different so the remotes do not interfere.
Lastly, if some other wireless device is interfering with the fan (causing it to turn on and off seemingly at random) such as a garage door opener or cordless phone, you can try a different setting on the dip switches. Universal remotes: If your fan remote is lost or broken, many suppliers, including this web site, offer a universal remote designed to work with the majority of different remote operated ceiling fans. Many are also universal for operating televions etc so you can control all your leisure and comfort devices from one unit. Replacement parts: Unfortunately, outside of Universal remotes, general replacement parts are not available for remote control systems. Your best bet is to contact the manufacturer. Repair: Also unfortunately, most problems with remote controls cannot be repaired outside of what is suggested above.
If you have problems, contact the manufacturer, perhaps the fan is under warranty, or parts are available. Otherwise chances are the fan will stay broken. Converting to 3 speed: One common question: My fan's remote is broken, can I just convert it to a 3 speed pullchain like other fans? Again unfortunately, if you have to ask the question, then chances are the answer is no.
It can be done but there are no universal directions, it varies drastically from fan motor to fan motor, and requires a fair amount of technical and electronic skill. A few exceptions: If the fan has a 'remote bypass' switch you can select it and then use a wall control (or pullchain if there is one attached to the fan). Add-on remote kits Some fan remote systems are not built into the fan, they were an option added by the installer at an additional cost. Usually they consist of a remote receiver wired to the fan inside the ceiling canopy, and the fan will still have a pullchain that is not used.
If this is the case then the receiver can be removed and replaced with another remote/receiver kit, or the fan can be operated as standard with the 3 speed pullchain. If your receiver has dip-switches, and your original 35T remote does not have dip-switches, but instead, only a Learn button, this remote will not work, you must purchase a new kit as we do not have the remote for you available (we recommend the RR7079TKIT Universal ceiling fan kit). These products were originally sold at Lowe's as a combination package and I don't know why they don't offer them any longer. If you already have one of these and are adding a fan to the same area where the existing fan has this remote, buy another like it so they look the same in the little cradle holder on the wall. By Lester on March 20, 2017. The remote synchronization for me was easy but the instructions provided with the package didn't tell me to press the off and light button at the same time to synchronize my remote to the fan and light.
I learned this from the YouTube video I watched. Furthermore, when I contacted the Lowe's representative he told me that I needed to take down my fan and bring it back and that the remote was fine. I was not pleased with his response or attitude toward helping me fix my remote. The fact is the circuit board was bad and I asked to have a new remote sent to me but his response was take the fan back. I purchased this $25 remote but I feel that I should not have had to pay for this product because the circuit board was bad and the representative didn't help me resolve my problem. Thanks by Timothy on January 19, 2017. My wonderful husband misplaced the remote for our two outdoor fans on our covered (but open) porch.

The fans and the main post light near the road are on the same light switch in the house. So, whenever we wanted the post light on and we hit the main switch, the fans automatically came on at medium speed (as this was the last setting it was on prior to losing the remote). This wouldn't be too bad, but in Ohio, that tends to get a bit cold in the winter months when you walk up onto the porch. This was a lifesaver when I found it! I originally bought a kit at Lowes for about $34, but you had to replace the transmitter in the already installed fan! This was cheaper, quick shipping, and super easy to 'setup'. The 'learn' button on the remote had it synced up with the two fans/lights in less than 30 seconds!

What to Look For In An Allen Roth Fan?
When you are looking for an Allen Roth ceiling fan, there are a few things you need to look out for. There are so many different types of fans on the market, you need to have a plan of action when looking or you can get lost.
Fan Style:
Before you enter the store you are shopping at, whether it be Lowes or even if you are shopping online, you need to have a style in mind. When I was looking, I needed a pretty modern style because it had to match the rest of my house and my living room. Obviously you want to match your current style of your house, so this will definitely help you narrow down your choices. Generally speaking, there are fans that will go with nearly any style.
Number of Blades:
Similar to style, every fan can have a different number of fan blades. I have seen with as little as two blades, and some with as many as five blades. Functionality wise, and the output of the fan has little to do with the number of fan blades as far as I am aware. So, I wouldn’t put the choice of number of blades more on the appearance than the functionality.
Type of Fan:
As I have done quite a bit of research on my Allen and Roth ceiling fan, I know that there are quite a large number of different types of ceiling fans out there. Because of this, I thought i should write a page about each type so that I can give you a more accurate look at each one. I will write these as accurate and as unbiased as possible!

My Experiences With Allen Roth Ceiling Fan Remote Control!
I have owned one of these remotes for the past few years, and this was my first ceiling fan remote that I have ever owned. Originally I didn’t really know what the big appeal for these remotes were because I was used to just using the pull cords and the switch to control the fan. But let me tell you, once you get used to these remotes, there is no going back. For the first fan I had, it didn’t come with a remote, so I went out to the store and I bought a universal remote and I immediately set it up. I played around with the settings and it was amazing! I set up three different fan blade speeds for my remote, and I also had a power shut off button. It was amazing to have the ability to turn off my fan, or even to adjust the fan speed while I was laying in my bed instead of having to get up and adjust it manually.
Overall these fan remotes are something that Allen and Roth truly strive on, they are great products and they are amazing! If you are the owner of and Allen and Roth ceiling fan I definitely suggest you to take a look at a fan remote control.

Parts of an Allen Roth Fan:
The Motor and Its Housing
Allen Roth Outdoor Ceiling Fan
It is the most durable part of the ceiling fan and sadly the single most expensive part. Its main function is to rotate the blades and increase air movement in the room where it is installed. It rotates blades at an average blade pitch of 14-16 degrees. It is efficient and with its durability, users are assured of not having to worry about going to take it for repairs anytime soon after buying it. Generally when looking for Allen and Roth ceiling fan parts you won’t have to worry too much about the motor. But if it does break, then you’ll be covered!
The Blades
The average number of ceiling fan blades is usually four but some vary and from time to time there are those with three or five. This number is highly dependent on the size of the ceiling fan. The blades can vary in different ways but mostly in terms of: material used to make them, length and diameter. Each of this has a different effect on how the ceiling fan works.
The length determines the volume of air the ceiling fan impacts. The lengthier the blade the more volume it impacts. Fans usually have a sweep diameter of about thirty six, forty two or fifty two inches
These blades can be made from plywood, metal or even solid wood. Finishes such as cherry wood, oak, black or white are usually available with these blades. They also come in a range of colors too. Recently bedcovers have been used in custom blades. These usually help to trap germs and dust in the air. It helps keep the place clean and safer. A user can periodically remove the cloths and wash them.
Mounting Device
This is the part which is attached to the actual ceiling. It has a wide range of designs and types. They are mostly referred to as Mounting Brackets. Together with the motor, this device is also durable and can serve a user for a long time. Should the unlikely incident occur however, this device is common and can be found easily.
Chain Switches
Allen Roth Ceiling Fan Manual
This is the most often used part of the ceiling part. It is a sort of “yanking switch”. With the development of the switch this device is almost being phased out since it usually breaks and most users prefer the switch to it. The chain switches are often the most searched Allen Roth ceiling fan parts, and thankfully they are cheap and easy to replace!
If you are anything like me, you should appreciate this in a company! They are willing to sell you these pieces which might not make them as much money, but it definitely helps the customer out! So I suggest you take a look at Allen Roth ceiling fan parts if you need a fix for your fan!
